Happy Thursday! I'm sitting here on my sofa, second to last day at my current job, puppy by my side. (Minori, aka aforementioned puppy, was just licking the computer screen, followed by licking my hand while typing...although she's still sleepy so midway through licking, she starts yawning.) Obviously ready to conquer the world. Or the weekend.
We've been having lazier than usual mornings over here lately. It sort of just hit me that I'll be leaving this uber flexible work from home lifestyle in the dust in about a week.... aka no more yoga pants as my work uniform, or home-cooked lunches made in real time, or lunch break yoga classes if I so choose. I've been working from home for the last two years, and before that, I did it on and off for another two years (sometimes I had to be in the office every but sometimes I didn't have to be there at all, for weeks at a time). So really, I haven't had a traditional office job since i left Washington, D.C., i.e., summer of 2013. Whoa.
Kind of crazy.
I've gotten so used to my flexible schedule, and it's certainly crossed my mind thattransitioning to a regular office life might be a tad challenging.Like packing my own lunch... something I've ALWAYS hated and was honestly one of the biggest perks of working remotely, in my opinion.
(It's like packing a suitcase -- just totally stinks, right?)
Any tips on meal prep, send 'em over. I think I'm going to have to pack a breakfast too, since I'll be having early days if I plan to workout before.
I feel like I'm talking like I've never done this before, but I mean... I have! (I'm practically 31 for heaven's sakes - been working a loooong time already.) Just not in a MINUTE. I used to make oatmeal at my desk for breakfast (I kept peanut butter jars and a box of oatmeal packets at my desk back in the day), and brought lunches from home, like sandwiches and Greek yogurt with fruit.
Anyways! Transition. It'll be something to get used to.
I'm honestly more worried about Minori. I'm not sure how she'll react to be solo all day now, without her stay-at-home mom.... who she ignores most of the time, but still. We prob need a dog walker... I guess?
Also, I've been looking at yoga and workout studios in the area here in LA, and almost none that i've come across have a 6am class, never mind a 5:45am or earlier. What is that about? Does everyone surf or live in Hollywood, and have days that don't begin til 10am? HELP.
If you live in LA, especially the Southbay area, can you puh-leaseee share some fitness studio recommendations in the comments section? I'd love you forever.
Running is not an everyday option for me, so I need some alternative solution. SoulCycle seems to be the only spin studio around here, which is great, but also...... help me, I'm pooooor. (<--Name that movie!) Or GOING to be, with their prices.
I've also thought about joining a gym again, particularly one with good class options. I'm meeting up with a friend who's a member of Equinox today and we're going to check it out (and get massages!!!), so we shall see.
Do you like how I'm just rambling here? I had big plans to talk about routines and blah blah, a real topic.. but instead we're basically having a coffee date and I'm spilling my brain to you.
Let's just forge on, eh?
I have had more people than I should be proud to admit comment that I probably need to go shopping for an office appropriate wardrobe... Apparently Lululemon is not acceptable in the workplace (outside of work at a fitness studio)? I'm going to be working at a university, so prob no spandex allowed.
In a sort of unrelated note, where can a girl buy some boxer shorts for sleeping nowadays?! I've had some from Victoria's Secret from college (yes... a million years ago), and they're starting to finally rip. So i need new ones.. but apparently Victoria's Secret doesn't make normal pajamas anymore? They're all...... fancy.
Judging by this post, I'm a mess and need some sort of life coach to shepherd me through this next chapter. This is what you get from a post written before eating breakfast, guys... yikes. ;)
And on that note, time to get after it (eggs and avocado toast calling my name). Have an amazing day, friends! xo
