It's been a while, huh? Like a week and half, or so. WELL, since we last talked, I visited Tucson, fell in love with Tucson, packed up my whole apartment in Newport Beach, was offered a new job, and moved to Los Angeles.
Hence, not much time to blog. Also, lack of internet. But alas - things are settling down and we're getting back to normal now... or the new normal, I suppose.
I was a bit down about the move for a while, but I am feeling a lot more positive now that we've actually done it. Our house is darn cozy (amidst the chaos of unpacking), and I love our new little neighborhood. Plus, I forgot how much I actually do like LA, including how diverse + average-Joe people are... more on that in another post.
The new job piece is pretty exciting, and this week is my very last with my current company. In case you don't know, I work from home full-time as a writer and communications manager on a military health campaign. I've worked with the military basically since I graduated grad school, which I'm pretty sure was a hundred years ago. My boyfriend and I we walking around the University of Arizona campus after grabbing coffees on our first morning in Tucson when I got the call with my new job offer. It made for a pretty extra-celebratory weekend, let me tell you.
I know I've mentioned it a bit here, but I was job searching for over a year. No joke - over a year. Actively. And honestly, it was draining and defeating, and a punch to my ego more than a couple times.
As a result, I'm pretty over the moon. I've truly loved working with the military community, and particularly the health side of things, but have been pretty over working remotely for quite some time. Not to mention, I'm overdue for a new challenge. Now's my chance!
Let's hope I remember how to function in a place where coworkers don't bark at you. ;) I probably should go shopping for some more non-yoga pants outfits, too. Can I hire a personal shopper?
Anyways! We're mostly unpacked but there's still a good chunk left to tackle in order to make this place look a bit more civilized. Hopefully I can get it all done before my first day of work. In the meantime, does anyone have suggestions for good places to find:
- Area rugs
- A headboard
- Cute home decor that makes me look more like an adult ;) (...too general??)
And I think that's about it! My puppy and I are having a lazy evening, and I have some writing to do. I just started contributing to Fairygodboss, and need to work on my latest articles for them.
Have a great night!
